Hit Songwriters to Pair UpWith Great Golfers to Raise Money for Charity

4th Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament for Charity at Lost Key Golf Club, Perdido Key, FL

Just when you thought the golf season was drawing to a close comes a tournament no charity-minded, music-adoring, fun-loving, serious-golfer dare miss. Golfers participating in the Frank Brown International Music / Lyrics for Life Celebrity Golf Tournament will get the rare chance to golf with hit songwriters of all genres on November 14, 2008.

Tournament kick off ceremonies start at 7:00 the night before the tournament at the historic Flora-Bama roadhouse, 17401 Perdido Key Dr, Pensacola, FL. The kickoff will feature a drawing for four person golf teams from the pool of registered golfers and celebrity songwriters. Following the drawing celebrity songwriting golfers and their teams and guests will be entertained by the newly formed musical duo EVANSCAPPS. EVANSCAPPS is a side project of Ean Evans (bassist for Lynyrd Skynyrd) and Bobby Capps (keyboardist for .38 Special).

Friday, November 14th, teams will tee off at 11:00AM at the Lost Key Golf Club located at 625 Lost Key Drive, Perdido Key, FL. The tournament will begin with a four-person shot-gun start. Lost Key Golf Club is an Arnold Palmer Signature Golf Course. The lush setting of Lost Key Golf Club makes it the perfect choice for golfers to enjoy the game and soak up the scenery, according to golfers there. Lost Key opened in 1997 and was redesigned by Palmer in 2006.

Following the tournament golfers and golfing songwriters will be treated to a complimentary reception where team winners will be awarded.

"This tournament combines a worthy cause, an award winning course and the chance for golfers to golf with the hit songwriters from around the world. It has been a very popular tournament because of its great mix of golf prowess and creative minds," according to tournament director, Jason Fandrich. "Everyone comes away talking about their best shot and convinced there is a hit song in there somewhere", added Fandrich.

Frank Brown International Music Foundation and Lyrics for Life have combined forces this year. Together they hope to raise enough money to provide two scholarships to graduating students pursing a career in music in the fall of 2009 and to raise money and awareness about Lyrics for Life's charitable mission to make a difference in the fight against pediatric cancer.

The tournament is the opening event of the 24th Frank Brown International Songwriters' Festival. The festival annually schedules over 300 of the best and brightest songwriters from around the world to perform at local Gulf Coast venues following the golf tournament.

The Frank Brown International Foundation for Music is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization. The foundation was formed in 2001 to provide scholarship monies to young aspiring songwriters and musicians. In addition to the scholarships, the Foundation matches hundreds of elementary students with successful songwriters during the Frank Brown International Songwriters' Festival to provide one on one mentoring for the students. Year after year the response is overwhelming as young minds dare to dream with enthusiasm and passion.

Lyrics for Life is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization whose mission is to make a difference in the fight against pediatric cancer. It was founded by the musical group Sister Hazel front man Ken Block in memory of his younger brother Jeffrey. The charity unites musicians and celebrities for concerts, events and auctions to raise money for summer camps, support groups and research. Songwriter Music Festival - Big Hit With Tourists

Biggest Songwriters' Festival in the US also Big Hit with Lower Alabama Tourists

What happens when you cross 300 songwriters, 25 venues and 20,000 visitors, tourists and local music enthusiasts? Just the largest songwriters' music festival in these United States, that's all.

On November 13-23, 2008, 25 venues along the Gulf Coast in lower Alabama and stretching from the Florida shores of Perdido Key to Pensacola will be host to the 24th Annual Frank Brown International Songwriters' Festival (FBISF). During those two weeks in November participating local venues will turn their restaurants and clubs into "listening rooms" touting 1-2 hour songwriter showcases featuring 300 tunesmiths and their hit (and/or hit-hopeful) songs.

"Without fail, first time visitors come away from this festival in wide-eyed surprise and wondering how they didn't know about this festival before," said Linda Ponder, a local festival regular. "The music is awesome. You'd be surprised who wrote your favorite song. In most cases, it's not the artist who sings it," according to Ponder. "Getting to know the people behind the words that make you sad, happy, grateful or tearful, and sometimes all those feelings at once, is just an incredible, unforgettable way to spend a couple of cool days every November," she added.

Attendees who have discovered the festival over the past 24 years come from as far away as Europe or as close as Birmingham. "And why not?" asked Ponder. "There are outdoor shows, indoor shows, lively venues and listening rooms. The people are fun and the ocean is right here," she added.

One gulf-side country music songwriter favorite, Chris Wallin, has performed at the festival for 10 years running. Wallin's two most recent number one hit singles, "Don't Blink" Kenny Chesney and "Love Me If You Can" Toby Keith, both won Nashville's 2008 "The 10 Songs I Wish I Had Written" NSAI award in September.

"That is the kind of talent we have at Frank Brown," said festival director, Reneda Cross. "Collectively, our 300 songwriters have written thousands of hit songs. Just as importantly, the up and coming songwriters have material that is just amazing and may very well be the hit songs we're talking about next year."

Cross pointed out that songwriting runs across all genres at this festival. "We have songwriters performing country music, southern rock, folk, bluegrass, gospel, Americana, pop, top 40 and alternative. We've always had a Sunday dedicated to Gospel. This year we've added a special night promoting rhythm and blues called 'Rock and Roll Meets the Blues'," she said. "We expect it to be a big hit among the festival goers."

Not sure 10 days of songwriters is enough action for you? Well then how about a celebrity golf tournament for charity, a Shenandoah concert and two weekends of songwriting seminars? There is something for everyone at this festival.

For those travelers looking to add a one-of-a-kind experience to their festival activities, the songwriting seminars add that colorful twist. According to previous tourists turned temporary students, "It's fun and it's a great way to meet terrific people from all over the world!" The seminars, "The Write Key" and "The Craft and Business Of Songwriting" are open for registration on the FBISF website.

"Tourists love this part of the festival. Let's face it, there is a little songwriter in all of us," said Cross.

(June 2008)-- "The line-up for the Songwriters' Guild of America (SGA) and the Frank Brown International Songwriters' Festival (FBISF) Nashville Appreciation Celebration at Douglas Corner, 2106 8th Ave. S., on Thursday, July 10, 2008, from 5:30 p.m.-till just keeps growing," according to Festival Director, Reneda Cross.

The Appreciation Celebration is in honor of the songwriters who make the pilgrimage to the Frank Brown International Songwriters' Festival held annually in November. This year it is scheduled to take place from November 13-23 at over 20 venues in the Gulf Shores area. Over 15,000 fans are expected to attend.

Hit songwriter Chris Wallin, most recently noted for his number one single six weeks running with the Kenny Chesney, and Academy of Country Music nominated song of the year "Don't Blink" will be kicking off the celebration. FBISF AND SONGWRITERS' GUILD OF AMERICA SET TO HOLD SONGWRITER'S APPRECIATION CELEBRATION THURSDAY, JULY 10

"Songs 'n Sand" Theme Party Spotlights Festival Songwriters and Supporters in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 2008)--The Songwriters' Guild of America (SGA) and the FBISF will host the first Frank Brown International Songwriters' Festival (FBISF) Nashville Appreciation Celebration at Douglas Corner, 2106 8th Ave. S., on Thursday, July 10, 2008, from 5:30 p.m.-till. Nashville songwriters, the songwriting industry community and songwriter fans are invited to be special guests at the celebration.

The songwriter appreciation celebration, 'Songs 'n Sand' will feature a fun in the sun theme, complimentary horse devours and classic seaside beverage specials. The purpose of the celebration is to thank the many songwriters who make the annual pilgrimage to the Alabama/Florida Gulf Shores Frank Brown International Songwriters' Festival held annually in November and their industry sponsors who have continued to support the festival for the past 24 years.

What started as a small local end of the season songwriters' gathering at the historic Flora-Bama in Perdido Key, FL, has grown to 30 some venues, 300 songwriters and over 15,000 dedicated fans. And while the numbers are good, the festival has gone through high times and a few low times since its start some 24 years ago.

Festival Director, Reneda Cross, recalled when Hurricane Ivan hit the Gulf Shores in 2004. "There was a lot of speculation about what might happen to this festival after the Ivan hit. So many of our venues were seriously damaged or, worse yet, completely washed away. We owe so much to songwriters and their industry sponsors for continuing to support this festival while the Gulf Shore / Perdido Key businesses rebuilt from the total devastation."

In spite of the challenges, the festival has endured to remain one of the largest, most well attended and appreciated songwriters' festivals in the United States.

In addition to showing appreciation, organizers of the Douglas Corner 'Songs 'n Sand' celebration hope to raise greater awareness of the November festival and the many educational activities offered in connection with the live music. The Frank Brown International Songwriters' Festival is scheduled to run from November 13 - 23, 2008.

SGA, co-sponsor of the 'Songs 'n Sand' celebration, will be hosting The Write Key songwriting seminar November 13-16 during the first weekend of the November festival. FBISF will offer a two-day seminar the second weekend of the festival to be hosted by MTSU/ASCAP.

Additional appreciation celebration, Frank Brown festival, songwriter performance application and seminar registration information can be found on the Frank Brown web site, www.fbisf.com.
